Personalised Care Institute appoints Associate Professor as its Clinical Director

An Associate Professor at the University of Derby has been appointed Clinical Director of the Personalised Care Institute (PCI).

Dr Emma Hyde, an Associate Professor in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Derby and a Diagnostic Radiographer, has taken up the part-time role at the PCI. The PCI is helping health and care professionals to change the lives of patients by empowering them to have more control over how their care is planned. The institute sets the standards for evidence-based personalised care training, educating learners with expert-led flexible eLearning courses.

In her role, Dr Hyde will be responsible for clinical leadership, informing strategic planning and providing clinical input into the development and delivery of high-quality educational resources produced by the PCI. She will also lead engagement with senior stakeholders.

Dr Emma Hyde, Clinical Director at the PCI, said: “I am delighted to be joining the PCI team and am very much looking forward to playing my part in shaping how high-quality personalised care training is delivered at scale. The PCI has paved the way in setting extremely high standards of education since it was launched, enabling health and care professionals to deliver care which puts every individual at the centre of how their care is planned, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build upon this.”

Dr Hyde has carried out large-scale research into concepts of personalised care within her profession of diagnostic radiography and has also delivered multi-professional personalised care training to several organisations. She uses her role as an educator to positively influence students to be person-centred in their approaches.

The PCI is the national organisation which sets the standards for evidence-based personalised care training. Since its launch, the PCI has created the first ever Personalised Care Curriculum, developed and launched several learning modules within its flexible eLearning platform and has accredited more than 38 externally delivered training courses. The eLearning includes three core modules suitable for all healthcare professionals, covering core skills, shared decision making and personalised care and support planning.
